Summer 2008 Camp Descriptions:

Service Staff

There have been some changes to the SS program, please read dates carefully! Remember to ask your high school for community service credit. Service Staff 1 and 2 will receive an additional FREE sweatshirt! (1b an extra FREE t-shirt) 5B includes the Crow Wing River Canoe trip!

As service staff you are an integral part of the camp. Mornings are spent doing service projects including maintenance and kitchen work. Early afternoons you will be preparing skits and other activities for the younger campers. Then of course there is BEACH/FREE TIME! Evening holds lots of cool activities for the big kids on CAMPus! Saturday night you'll get to go on an overnight canoe trip!

Wake, Rattle and Troll "Reely" cool hands-on fun! Be like Jesus' disciples and discover the joys of fishing and growing closer to God. Spend time camping and swimming at Star Lake. Learn fishing ABCs that will actually catch fish-from basic safety to a Friday Fish Fry Lunch with pan-fried fillets. All fishing equipment is furnished although you may bring your own. We will spend a half-day on a launch out of Lake Mille Lacs! Beginners welcome.

Star Lake Classic This will be the best wilderness camp experience you'll ever have! Star Lake at its finest! You and your new friends will create and maintain your very own campsite(!), take an overnight canoe trip, cook over the fire, learn wilderness skills, swim, do the ropes course, play games and much more all while growing closer to God in this beautiful lakeside wilderness.

Star Lake Survivor

Changed from last year!

SURVIVOR STAR LAKE
Outwit, outplay, outlast in the great out-of-doors! Don't worry though, Christ has spoken and no one gets voted out of this tribe!

Instead, join your tribe and work together to be a modern day Christian MACGUIVER! (Trust us, ask your parents about that one!) and learn how to "survive" in the wilderness.

Star Lake Horse Camp/ Mini-Horse Camp HORSES or CAMPING??? Oh, what to choose?? Well, Star Lake has the BEST of both worlds just for you! Spend 3 hours each day riding and caring for horses-then return to Star Lake for a real camp out! Does life get any better than that? You get to cook over the fire, sing trail songs and tell bedtime stories in your tent about your day out on the range as well as get to swim and play at Star Lake! Space will be limited so sign up quickly and don't forget your boots partner! (Horse camp rides 4 times, mini camp 3 times)

3M and 3M Junior (Pastor Marzahn's Midnight Madness) Hey night owls! Turn out the lights and experience all your favorite Star Lake Classic activities . . . at NIGHT! Join Pastor Paul Marzahn for a bit of Midnight Madness! The night will come alive not only with "critters," but with floating campfires, stargazing, worship, and night games like capture the flag and a "get lost" hike. Lots of fun night things, and best of all (besides being at Star Lake)??? You get to sleep in late! It's crazy!

Junior? You get all the awesome adventures 3M has to offer…at a YOUNGER age! (Lucky!)

R.O.C.K. STAR!
(Rock climbing, Outdoor Challenges, Kayaking at STAR LAKE!)
Rock climbing, Outdoor Challenges & Kayaking at Star Lake Camp! WOW! This is not your ordinary adventure camp…we will be sleeping, cooking and playing in God's great outdoors, PLUS a 2 day trip to DULUTH!!! Come have the time of your life-make new friends, get to know God, and challenge yourself. Are you ready? It's intense (in-tents). :

Waterworks H20, agua, water. No matter what you call it, it is essential for life. God gave us this amazing gift and it's our chance to celebrate water. So if you love to swim and other water games, then this camp is for you! We will swim, canoe, kayak, go to the rope swing, snorkel, and have water Olympics. In addition to all the other Star Lake attractions, we will also hike around the lake and out to the natural wonder "the bog."

Picture This!
Star Lake Photography Camp
PICTURE THIS (Photography Camp)
Say Cheese! Grab your camera and head to Star Lake-capture the beauty of God's creation on CD. Learn about photography and how to take the best possible photographs at the beach, in the woods, of sunsets & critters! You'll be staying in platform tents at a ready-made site, but you will need to provide your own digital camera.

Elementary Adventures Can't wait to be old enough to experience Star Lake? Come try out our Elementary Adventures camp designed especially with young campers in mind! Canoeing, hiking cooking over a fire, and sleeping in a platform tent are just the start. Get in touch with God and the wilderness under the supervision of our skilled woods counselors.

CSI (Christ Scene Investigation): STAR LAKE! Explore the out-of-doors and investigate the mystery of God's creation. In a forensic science called "phenology" we will traverse the camp looking for the clues that nature provides us in its cyclical pattern. Trees, flowers, birds, bugs, all change even in the short time we are at camp. What secrets can we unearth? You be the disciple and find out!

Crow Wing River Trip Join up with Service Staff 5A, our AWESOME SS Directors and other high schoolers for a week of canoeing down the Crow Wing River. We'll pack our food and gear in the canoes, sleep at riverside campsites and take plenty of time to play and see cool stuff along the way. Enjoy both God in His natural wilderness and by nightly campfires discussing the things you can't always talk about with your friends at home. You're guaranteed to have a great time and meet new friends. Best of all, you'll start and end at Star Lake! No experience required.

Star Lake Work Weekend Join us and work in fellowship on service projects to improve the camping experience at Star Lake. We will stay in family camp and work on service projects throughout the camp. This year we will focus on Kitchen Upgrades (including the floor, and installing the new freezer) and the ever popular cutting firewood for the main beach and family camp. Bring your own work gloves -all other tools and equipment will be provided (but feel free to bring any supplies you deem necessary.)

Star Lake Opening Weekend Come and help us prepare Star Lake to receive campers. We will install docks, open buildings, set up camps sites, move canoes, and maintain our beaches. We will stay overnight in family camp. Bring your own work gloves --all tools and equipment will be provided (but feel free to bring any supplies you deem necessary.)
